Richard Webb, Age 30
Private, 44536, 1st Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry.
In 1901 Richard aged 13 is listed as living at Burroughs Bank, Lightmoor, Dawley, with his father Henry and mother Ann.
Richard had originally enlisted into the KSLI (23505) but at some point, been transferred into the Somerset Light Infantry but whether this was due to wounds or manpower shortage is unknown. What is known is that Richard was killed in action with his new regiment on August 30th 1918 and his body lies in Dury Crucifix Cemetery in grave III.A.10.
A memorial service was held at the Wesleyan Chapel for Richard on the 22nd September 1918.
